Job summary

STRIVE, a nationwide nonprofit, seeks a Chief Development Officer at its NYC office to lead fundraising, strategy, and donor engagement for national expansion. The role requires translating growth plans into revenue opportunities and managing a 10+ person development team.

You will cultivate major gifts, foundations, and government funding, while partnering with the CEO and senior leaders to advance STRIVE’s mission at scale.

Qualifications

• Senior fundraising leadership experience, preferably as a Chief Development Officer or equivalent.
• Proven success securing transformational philanthropic investments and complex funding partnerships.
• Strong ability to translate growth plans into revenue strategies and donor narratives.
• Experience engaging boards, funders, and strategic partners at national scale.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Translate STRIVE’s growth plan into national, regional, and site-level fundraising strategies, budgets, forecasts, and targets.
• Develop strategy and capacity to increase local fundraising and support site self-sustainability.
• Coordinate institutional, government, individual, corporate, and event revenue sources; pursue new opportunities.
• Lead major institutional proposals, foundation grants, and growth capital opportunities.
• Provide strategic direction for fundraising narratives, case for support, and donor communications.
• Oversee a high-performing development team and align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
• Partner with CEO and executives to cultivate donors, sponsors, and public funding opportunities.
