Job summary

loanDepot, Inc. seeks a senior leader to define, operationalize, and scale our enterprise Data & AI Governance framework across data assets, models, and AI agents in California.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or similar field and 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, AI governance, model risk management, information governance, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of five (5) years in a senior leadership role overseeing enterprise governance programs.
• Experience building and running a centralized Data & AI Governance team or center of excellence with governance councils, stewardship models, and policy frameworks.
• Deep expertise in enterprise data governance domains including data classification, metadata, lineage, data quality, access management, masking, retention, and secure destruction.
• Strong knowledge of model governance and AI lifecycle controls including model inventory, validation, monitoring, explainability, risk-tiering, and retirement.
• Experience governing AI agents, copilots, or autonomous workflows with controls for non-human identity and runtime monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise Data & AI governance strategy, operating model, policies, standards, and decision-rights framework.
• Establish scalable governance spanning policy, stewardship, ownership, traceability and technical governance (quality, lineage, observability, controls).
• Translate regulatory, security, privacy, and risk requirements into practical governance controls and workflows.
• Chair governance forums and escalation bodies to review material risks and remediation priorities.
• Own data governance policies and standards for classification, labeling, masking, access, and encryption alignment.
• Define standards for metadata management, business glossary, lineage, stewardship, and data catalog governance.
• Lead enterprise data quality governance, including data element IDs, quality rules, issue management, and certification frameworks.
• Govern governance across the AI/ML lifecycle including validation, explainability, drift detection, and retraining.
• Partner with Legal, Risk, Security, CDO, and business leaders to embed governance into workflows.
• Provide executive reporting on governance maturity, risks, compliance and KPIs.
• Foster data literacy and governance adoption across the organization.
