Job summary

Astra is seeking a Head of Compliance to scale and lead its enterprise compliance program across financial crimes, payments compliance, privacy, and governance. This senior leader will own BSA/AML, KYC/KYB, sanctions, and SOC 2/PCI DSS, working with Product, Engineering, Legal, and bank partners to translate complex requirements into scalable controls.

Reporting to the COO, you will build a high-impact team, manage audits and risk, and drive compliance across all products and partnerships while

Qualifications

• 8+ years of compliance experience in fintech or financial services, with leadership
• Experience leading BSA/AML programs at financial institutions or fintechs
• Oversight of multiple compliance programs: BSA/AML, privacy, SOC 2, PCI DSS
• Deep expertise in financial crimes risk management and regulatory requirements
• Familiarity with ACH/NACHA, card networks, RTP, FedNow
• Hands-on in building/scaling compliance programs at startups
• Experience managing sponsor bank relationships
• Willingness to travel up to ~15% annually

Responsibilities

• Lead Astra's enterprise compliance program and drive policy, risk assessment, and controls
• Oversee BSA/AML, KYC/KYB, sanctions screening, and transaction monitoring
• Manage reporting to leadership and the Board; audits and remediation
• Scale the Compliance and GRC team and participate in complex reviews
• Serve as senior compliance contact with sponsor-bank partners and oversee payment‑rail compliance
• Lead governance for SOC 2 and PCI DSS programs and audits
• Oversee privacy program including GDPR and US privacy requirements
• Advise product/engineering on compliance requirements for new products
