Job summary

WIRED is seeking an experienced newsroom leader to oversee audience development and content strategy for its editions worldwide. Reporting to the Global Editorial Director, this senior role drives subscriber growth, shapes editorial packaging, and provides audience insights for storytelling decisions.

The role leads the WIRED app, subscriber growth, audience development, social, and analytics across global markets, partnering with commerce and revenue teams to maximize the value of WIRED's

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in fast-paced digital news publishing.
• Experience with revenue optimization including subscriptions and commerce.
• Experience creating content for SEO, social, and newsletters.
• Experience with publishing and analytics tools including listed platforms.
• Experience working with product/engineering teams to boost traffic and revenue.
• Strong communication skills and leadership.
• Love of news and urgency to deliver high-impact stories.
• Experience managing teams and training staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead audience development and social promotion in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Drive subscriber growth and convert engaged readers to paying subscribers.
• Develop subscriber-focused editorial experiences and premium content.
• Grow direct relationships across newsletters, apps, podcasts and events.
• Provide guidance on SEO and audience strategy across platforms.
• Collaborate with social leads to maximize reach and impact.
• Partner with analytics to identify content opportunities and feedback.
