Job summary

WIRED is seeking an experienced editor to lead our business coverage. Reporting to WIRED’s executive editor, this senior role oversees 10+ reporters and editors across US/UK, develops and iterates editorial strategies, and partners with audience development and video teams to maximize reach and impact.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years as an editor in a fast-paced digital environment.
• 5+ years managing others.
• Proven track record covering tech industry and breaking news.
• Experience overseeing multi-platform content from ideation to execution.
• Ability to balance daily deadlines with long-form projects.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, pitch, and develop content strategy for WIRED’s Business section.
• Define goals with senior leadership and ladder plans to brand objectives.
• Identify diverse voices to strengthen business coverage.
• Collaborate with audience development to review KPIs and improve content.
• Manage projects from concept to publication, including editing staff and freelancers, budgeting, and coordinating visuals.
• Lead hiring, mentoring, and performance management for editors and reporters across US/UK.
• Represent the brand publicly through social media, panels, and press opportunities.
