Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation is seeking a Chemist III to operate and maintain equipment and support Manufacturing, Technical Services, R&D and customer requests. Develop plans to meet department goals and participate in projects improving processes for specialty steels.

Coordinate project results, document findings in technical reports, and apply advanced analytical methods. Requires a four-year chemistry degree and 4–7 years of experience; ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Chemistry or related science field.
• 4–7 years of analytical, environmental or process chemistry experience.
• Advanced knowledge of chemical analysis and laboratory instruments.
• Ability to interpret customer needs and address standard/non-standard requests.
• Capable of managing small projects or sub-teams with resource coordination.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment across departments.
• Develop and implement plans to support department goals.
• Participate in and possibly manage projects with Manufacturing, Technical Services, R&D and customers.
• Communicate project results through detailed technical reports and memoranda.
• Promote process improvements for manufacturing specialty steels.
