Job summary

Carpenter Technology Corporation is a leading producer of premium specialty alloys and process solutions. We seek a Chemist III to operate and maintain analytical equipment and participate in group activities across Manufacturing, Technical Services, R&D and customer support.

You will develop plans to support defined department goals, participate in projects, and implement improvements to manufacturing processes for premium alloys.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Chemistry or related science field.
• Experience in analytical, environmental or process chemistry (4–7 years).
• Uses best practices to improve processes, products or services in own function.
• Advanced knowledge of chemical analysis and laboratory instruments.
• Ability to manage small projects or sub-teams and forecast resource needs.
• Strong problem-solving and independent working capability.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain analytical equipment and perform chemical analyses.
• Develop and implement plans to support department goals.
• Lead or participate in projects across Manufacturing, Technical Services, R&D and customers.
• Communicate project results through reports and memoranda.
• Identify improvements to processes used to manufacture specialty steels.
