Job summary

Element Solutions' MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions in Fremont is seeking a Production Operator to run chemical batch processes in strict accordance with SOPs and environmental health regulations. You will operate reactors, tanks, pumps and meters, ensure correct ingredients, and maintain accurate batch documentation.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, 2+ years in chemical manufacturing, and the ability to work the night shift (10:00 PM–6:30 AM).

Qualifications

  • Two years of chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a clean-room environment is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow SOPs precisely.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment to manufacture chemical batches per SOPs.
  • Work with reactors, tanks, pumps, meters, valves, and related equipment.
  • Weigh, measure, and verify raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform packaging, labeling, and boxing per SOPs.
  • Collect process samples and coordinate with lab personnel.
  • Maintain batch tickets, log sheets, and calibration records.
  • Attend required HSE training and handle hazardous waste containers.
  • Train other operators and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Perform housekeeping and maintain 5S standards.

Who are we looking for?

A person in this position is responsible for operating production equipment to manufacture chemical batches in compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all local state and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and the environment.

What will you be doing?
  • Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations.
  • Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products.
  • Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales and flow meters. Weigh, measure and check raw materials and finished product to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities and that accurate inventory is maintained.
  • Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with SOP's.
  • Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
  • Maintain required log sheets including but not limited to batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.
  • Attend required HSE training including Hazardous Waste Management, emergency response, and Hazard Communication, and demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of topics.
  • Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.
  • Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, OHSA'S 18001 standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in work area.
  • Communicate with shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues. Actively participate in shift meetings to assist in work planning and continuous improvement.
  • Train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed to ensure efficiencies, safety, and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Who are You?
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with at least 2 years of applicable experience; chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to work 10:00 PM 6:30 AM
  • Experience with manufacturing specialty chemicals using batch processes.
  • Experience working in a clean-room environment will be a plus.
  • Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; convey technical information effectively and concisely to engineering, sales, technicians, etc.
