Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions is seeking a production operator in Connecticut to operate production equipment and manufacture chemical batches in strict adherence with SOPs and safety, health, and environmental regulations.

You will process, purify and fabricate products, operate reactors and related instruments, weigh and verify raw materials, and maintain accurate batch tickets and logs, with strong attention to detail and safety.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in batch processing and chemical manufacturing.
  • Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products.
  • Experience working in a clean-room environment.
  • Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; convey technical information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment to manufacture chemical batches in accordance with SOPs and all safety, health and environmental regulations.
  • Process, purify, and chemically fabricate products through a sequence of batch operations.
  • Operate equipment including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves and hoses.
  • Weigh, measure and check raw materials and finished product to ensure correct ingredients and quantities and maintain inventory.
  • Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations per SOPs.
  • Locate materials in the warehouse and transport to manufacturing areas using a forklift as needed.
  • Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
  • Maintain required log sheets including batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.
  • Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.
  • Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, OHSA'S 18001 standards.
  • Communicate with shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues; participate in shift meetings.
  • Train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed to ensure efficiencies, safety, and compliance.

Who are we looking for?

A person in this position is responsible for operating production equipment to manufacture chemical batches in compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all local state and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and the environment.

What will you be doing?

  • Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations.
  • Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products.
  • Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales and flow meters.
  • Weigh, measure and check raw materials and finished product to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities and that accurate inventory is maintained.
  • Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with SOP's.
  • Locate materials in the warehouse and transport to manufacturing areas using a forklift as needed
  • Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
  • Maintain required log sheets including but not limited to batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.

Who are You?

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of applicable experience making batchs, working and blending chemicals. Chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products.
  • Experience working in a clean-room environment
  • Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; convey technical information effectively and concisely to engineering, sales, technicians, etc.
