Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions is seeking a chemical batch operator to run production equipment and manufacture chemical batches in compliance with SOPs and all safety, health, and environmental regulations. You will handle liquids and solids, weigh materials, maintain logs, operate reactors and meters, and support ISO 9001/14001 compliance.

A high school diploma and 2+ years in chemical batch making are required; forklift cert and hazardous waste cert are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of applicable experience making batches, working and blending chemicals.
  • Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products.
  • Experience working in a clean-room environment.
  • Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; convey technical information effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment to manufacture chemical batches in compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Weigh, measure, and check raw materials and finished products to ensure proper ingredients and quantities; maintain inventory
  • Handle liquids and solids, operate reactors, tanks, pumps, meters, valves, and hoses.
  • Maintain required log sheets and equipment inspections; follow ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Train other operators as needed and participate in shift meetings for safety and continuous improvement.

Who are we looking for?

A person in this position is responsible for operating production equipment to manufacture chemical batches in compliance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all local state and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and the environment.

What will you be doing?
  • Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations.
  • Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products.
  • Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales and flow meters.
  • Weigh, measure and check raw materials and finished product to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities and that accurate inventory is maintained.
  • Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with SOP's.
  • Locate materials in the warehouse and transport to manufacturing areas using a forklift as needed
  • Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
  • Maintain required log sheets including but not limited to batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.
  • Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.
  • Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, OHSA'S 18001 standards.
  • Communicate with shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues. Actively participate in shift meetings to assist in work planning and continuous improvement.
  • Train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed to ensure efficiencies, safety, and compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Who are You?
