Job summary

PSI, Akron, is seeking a Chemical Engineer to drive process optimization and reliability in our large manufacturing plant. You will lead plant trials, evaluate existing processes, and develop design recommendations for capital projects, while supporting safety through Process Hazard Analyses.

The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering with 1–5 years of experience in manufacturing, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work across Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 1–5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting chemical manufacturing processes and process equipment preferred.
• Ability to apply chemical engineering principles to process troubleshooting, optimization, and process design.
• Ability to develop and evaluate process design scopes for new and existing chemical processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform process optimization studies, plant trials, and technical evaluations of existing chemical manufacturing processes.
• Develop process design recommendations and engineering scope for process improvements and capital projects.
• Perform engineering assignments supporting larger capital, process improvement, and operational initiatives.
• Evaluate technical problems, select appropriate engineering methods, and develop practical design recommendations.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and other Process Safety activities associated with process changes and plant operations.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical documentation, design information, and other project deliverables.
• Participate in defining engineering approaches and planning and scheduling engineering work.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians as appropriate.
• Support successful completion of assigned project activities within established schedule and cost requirements.
• Apply an understanding of maintenance practices to troubleshoot equipment problems and improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other plant functions to troubleshoot operational and process performance issues.
• Initiate process improvement ideas and build organizational support to develop viable opportunities into projects.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with plant and business objectives.
• Maintain compliance with applicable SHE policies, procedures, Process Safety requirements, and plant safety standards.
