Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Care Leader for the Ortho Neuro unit at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. This full-time night-shift role (7pm–7:30am) involves operational and clinical leadership on the 24-Bed Ortho Neuro Surgical Care Unit, with a Magnet-designated environment emphasizing collaborative, compassionate care.

The ideal candidate will have a BSN, an active RN license, BLS certification, and 2+ years of nursing leadership experience, along with strong clinical skills and effective

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• BSN degree required.
• 2+ years of nursing experience, preferably with charge nurse or leadership.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong clinical skills and ability to lead in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Ability to perform critical thinking and timely decision making.
• Ability to assess skills of others.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and clinical leadership to the unit during assigned shift.
• Lead provision and coordination of patient-centered, compassionate and holistic care.
• Promote evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making and improvement of outcomes.
• Anticipates and secures appropriate resources needed for own shift and next 24 hours.
• Supports creation/oversight of department schedule. Ensures modifications are reflected on schedule and timecard.
• Performs the principal duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse and serves as a role model for professional practice.
