Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Care Leader for the Ortho Neuro unit at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. This full-time night-shift role (7pm–7:30am) involves operational and clinical leadership on the 24-Bed Ortho Neuro Surgical Care Unit, with a Magnet-designated environment emphasizing collaborative, compassionate care.

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Promote evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making and improvement of outcomes.
• Anticipates and secures appropriate resources needed for own shift and next 24 hours.
• Supports creation/oversight of department schedule. Ensures modifications are reflected on schedule and timecard.
• Performs the principal duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse and serves as a role model for professional practice.

The 24-Bed Ortho Neuro Surgical Care Unit at Magnet designated Sherman Hospital is dedicated to providing quality care to our Ortho/ Neuro surgical patients. Here, you’ll find a collaborative, supportive, and highly engaged team committed to delivering compassionate, safe, and exceptional care. Our nursing team spans from enthusiastic new graduates to seasoned professionals with decades of practice—alongside dedicated nursing assistants who bring diverse skills and perspectives.

What you will do:

• Providesoperationalandclinicalleadershiptotheunitduringassignedshift includingservingasaclinicalresource.

What we are looking for:

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

• 2+ years nursing experience (preferably including charge nurse or other nursing unit leadership capacity).
