Job summary

Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, TX, is seeking a Charge Nurse to assume shift responsibility and coordinate direct and indirect nursing care for patients and their families. The RN will lead a multidisciplinary team, promote patient-centered outcomes, and ensure safety and quality in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s).
• BLS from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment
• Current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas.
• De-escalation training within 90 days of hire; does not require maintaining
• Ongoing compliance with demonstration of clinically pertinent competencies as determined by the facility.
• Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting
• CCRN, TNCC and Cardiovascular certification preferred for specialty units
• 100% score on medication test – employee will have two chance to pass exam with remediation material available
• ACLS completion within three (3) months after hire or promotion
• Must pass EKG, Blood Gas Analysis and BKAT exam
• Satisfactory return demonstration of competencies required for critical care specific processes and equipment

Responsibilities

• Assumes shift responsibility for planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care.
• Coordinates multi-disciplinary team members and directs nursing staff.
• Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates an age-appropriate plan of care.
• Ensures a safe environment and adherence to standards.
• Assesses patient safety risks and implements precautions.
