Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) in Amarillo, TX seeks a Charge Nurse to lead nursing staff, coordinate direct and indirect patient care, and drive service excellence. This role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team within a 495-bed system.

The Charge Nurse will develop and implement care plans, ensure adherence to standards, and provide leadership to achieve optimal health outcomes and high-quality patient experiences.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment assessments.
• BLS certification from AHA and maintain throughout employment.
• Current Texas nursing license.
• De-escalation training within 90 days of hire; ongoing competency demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Assumes shift responsibility for planning and provision of nursing care.
• Coordinates multidisciplinary team members for safe, optimal outcomes.
• Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates age-appropriate Plan of Care using nursing process.

Education

Current state nursing license (Texas)

BLS certification (American Heart Association)

De-escalation training within 90 days
