Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide nursing care on the unit and support patient care through EHR documentation and collaborative teamwork.

The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, 2 years of nursing experience with at least 6 months as an RN, and an active RN license. Day shift, on-site position with on-call rotation and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid, current RN license as approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners.

Responsibilities

• Makes daily assignments as appropriate and ensures all daily assignments are accomplished.
• Communicates patient data using EHR to support decision-making to improve patient care.
• Assists with or performs exams and procedures and documents intervention in EHR.
• Administers or assists with administration and documentation of medication.
• Attends staff meetings and shares information with the staff.

Since 1989, TTUHSC Managed Care has been providing clinical andoperational support to correctional facilities throughout WestTexas and other regional areas. Position Description

Employees in this classification are responsible for nursing careat unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Implementsunit objectives and administrative policies. This position is underclinical supervision of the Unit Director of Nurses.

Major/Essential Functions

• Makes daily assignments as appropriate and ensures all dailyassignments are accomplished.
• Communicates patient data using Electronic Health Record (EHR)to support decision-making to improve patient care.
• Assists with or performs exams and procedures and documentsintervention in EHR.
• Administer or assist with administration and documentation ofmedication.
• Supports the goal of the unit by attending meetings and sharingthe information with the staff in regular staff meetings.
• Maintains working knowledge of current issues and treatmentmodalities.
• Monitor patient Access to Care for housing areas assigned toyour shift.
• Assures that physical counts of sharps, instruments, & keysare correct and documented in appropriate logs.
• Accepts on call rotation.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, directing managementfunctions for the unit.
• Responds to all request in a timely manner as required.
• Other duties as assigned

Registered Nurse Shift Differential

• Day Shift Employees: Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shiftsworked on Saturday and Sunday.
• Night Shift Employees:
  • Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday throughFriday.
  • Earn an extra $8.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday andSunday.

Required Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Two years of nursingexperience, with at least 6 months of that experience as aRegistered Nurse. Possession of a valid, current RN license asapproved by the Texas State Board of Examiners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• 2 years experience as an RN.
• 1 year experience as a Charge Nurse.
• 1 year of corrections experience.
