Job summary

TTUHSC’s Dalby Unit in Post, TX, is hiring an RN Charge Nurse to lead daily clinical operations on a rotating schedule. The role focuses on high-quality patient care, documentation in the EHR, and coordination with the health care team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualified candidates have a nursing degree, and at least two years of nursing experience including six months as an RN, plus an active RN license validated by the Texas State Board of Examiners.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Two years of nursing experience, with at least 6 months as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possession of a valid, current RN license as approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operations by assigning and monitoring staff for smooth workflow and task completion.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to document patient information and support clinical decisions.
  • Assist with or perform medical exams and procedures, ensuring timely documentation in the EHR.
  • Administer or assist with medications, with accurate documentation of all related activities.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and relay key updates and initiatives to the team.
  • Stay current with best practices and treatment modalities in correctional health care.
  • Monitor access to care for patients in designated housing units during shifts.
  • Maintain safety by counting sharps, instruments, and facility keys.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as part of the clinical support team.

The Dalby Unit offers a fast-paced clinical environment where LVNs play a critical role in daily patient care, emergency response, chronic disease management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Nurses are empowered to utilize their assessment and critical-thinking skills while contributing to positive patient outcomes.

Competitive Pay – Earn a strong salary plus shift differential:
  • Night Differential: +$4/hr on weekday nights
  • Weekend Differential: +$4/hr on weekend days

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinate daily operations by making and monitoring daily staff assignments to ensure smooth workflow and task completion.

  • Stay current with best practices and treatment modalities to provide the highest quality of care in a correctional health setting.
  • Monitor and ensure timely Access to Care for patients in designated housing units during assigned shifts.
  • Maintain safety and accountability by performing and documenting physical counts of sharps, instruments, and facility keys.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as part of the clinical support team.

Required Qualifications

Visa Information
