About The Center For Spiritual And Grief Care
Our spiritual and grief care providers (chaplains) are available 24 hours a day to assist all children, families and staff, regardless of their religious affiliation or type of loss. As members of the health care team, spiritual care providers contribute to the holistic care of patients and families by supporting and understanding spiritual perspectives and their impact on coping, medical decision making and health outcomes. Our team is sensitive to a variety of faiths and practices and maintains strong relationships with local communities to ensure competent, religiously appropriate, spiritual care.
About The Job
We are now recruiting
Chaplain Residents. Residents will begin September 2, 2025.
The Chaplain Residents are responsible for
- Patient Care: Work consistently with the interdisciplinary medical team, providing information on how religion/spirituality impact meaning making, coping, and medical decision making.
- Staff Care: Provide spiritual care to clinical caregivers on assigned unit
- Learning and Development: Observe and consult with assigned mentor as needed. Construct learning goals consistent with the Outcomes of Level I or Level II CPE as stated in the Standards of ACPE. Learning goals should also be designed with feedback from CPE Educators, peers and emerging self-awareness.
- Program Participation: Prepare for, attend and participate in individual and group supervision for all aspects of the CPE program including individual supervision sessions; verbatim sessions; Interpersonal Relations Group Sessions; Didactic sessions; and other curriculum items on the syllabus for the individual CPE unit.
- Compliance: Comply with CCHMC safety and departmental policies and procedures. Complete all hospital safety requirements.
- On-Call responsibilities: Spiritual Care residents provide in-house on-call coverage (responding as a member of the Trauma or Medial Team in the Emergency Room; Responding as a member of the Code team throughout the hospital; End of Life Care; general emotional/spiritual support to patients, families, and staff as requested) on an as needed basis.
To be considered, candidates must
- Completed or enrolled in a Graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Accreditation.
- Ordination, current endorsement, or good standing in accordance with the requirements of his/her/their own faith tradition or endorsing agency.
- Completion of 1 unit of CPE in ACPE accredited program
Schedule
This full-time job will work 40 hours per week, during the day, Monday-Friday, but will also rotate on weekends and holidays.
