Job Title: Research Administration Specialist

Division: Pediatrics

Work Arrangement: Remote within Houston, TX

Location: Houston, TX

Salary Range: $57,320 - $67,435

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Research Administration Specialist will assist the pre-award team in preparing and submitting pre-award grant applications, including developing timelines, creating budgets, reviewing funding opportunities, drafting and preparing reports and ensuring the grants meet specific institutional and sponsor compliance guidelines. The pre-award team submits 430+ grant applications a year and brings in ~$45 million in extramural funding on an annual basis.


Primary role will be to assist Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Faculty with submission of grants for internal and external funding of their research projects. Specific tasks include: grant development, grant and progress report submission tracking, grant budget development, editing/reviewing grant content to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor guidelines, and routing grant application and progress report through the department and sponsored programs office for review.

Job Duties
  • Assists Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Faculty with submission of grants for internal and external funding of their research projects.
  • Submits and monitors applications through the grant life cycle to include interpreting requirements and making recommendations to supported faculty.
  • Develops and prepares grant reports.
  • Contributes to developing and monitoring grant project timelines.
  • Managing any changes to the initial award which do not require a new proposal. Examples are a no-cost extension, change in personnel, scope revision, etc.
  • In collaboration with the Sponsored Programs Office, create sub-contracts and other relevant documents.
  • In collaboration with the Post-Award Finance Team, tracks and submits annual progress report and award close out requirements.
  • Ensures that each application is in compliance with sponsor guidelines, the budget complies with college and sponsor requirements, and that all required sections of applications are complete and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Creates grant related budgets for application submission.
  • Assisting Faculty with finding funding opportunities via internal and external search engines.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree. No experience required with Bachelor’s degreeor Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC).
  • Experience with Proposal Submission Platforms (ASSIST, Proposal Central, eRA Commons, Grants.gov, etc.)
