Job Description

The Trauma Center Registrar oversees the Trauma Registry, ensuring that the registry information is current, accurate, and complete. This role is 20 hours per week, during daytime hours, and is 100% remote.

• Monitors and ensures work conforms to hospital and departmental policies. Recommends, implements, and maintains trauma registry systems and procedures to support efficient operations.
• Maintains a comprehensive list of admitted trauma patients by reviewing ED admission logs and multidisciplinary service admission lists. Ensures data accuracy and recommends system upgrades.
• Inputs information into databases and spreadsheets, monitors data validity, and prepares reports to meet hospital, regulatory, and funding requirements.
• Assists in trauma research, education, performance improvement, and other trauma-related activities.
• Fosters a cooperative work environment through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
• Leads and supervises designated office support staff, plans work assignments, provides training, and participates in peer reviews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate’s degree or 2 years of relevant education.
• Certification in medical coding required.
• At least 2 years of experience in healthcare, with medical terminology and coding; 3 years preferred.
• Preferred: AAAM AIS Course Certificate (2015), ICD-10 Course within last 5 years, ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (PCS), trauma registry course, trauma CE, CAISS certification.
