Job summary

Intertek in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our Professional Services Industries team. The role focuses on welding inspection and quality assurance on building projects, pipeline sites, and related structures.

You will conduct testing, inspect welds, read blueprints, document results, and ensure compliance with D1.1 and safety standards. A driving license is required and a signing bonus up to $1,000 is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances.
• Must be able to receive, understand, and execute written and verbal directions.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written communication.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Valid Driver’s License with reliable driving record (required).

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites.
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections.
• Issue and follow up on non-conformances until the close out.
• Plan and conducts analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
• Review welded products or components and provide input on acceptance or rejection.
• Document data obtained during all quality assurance activities, per company policies.
• Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provide recommended process improvements to management.
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
• Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) and provide assessment of data.
• Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
• Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and coworker safety.
