Job summary

WVRC in Waukesha, WI seeks a Certified Veterinary Technician for emergency coverage. 1st shift, 4 nine-hour shifts weekly, with alternating weekends and some holidays. No on-call required. This is a fast-paced emergency/specialty setting on a busy hospital team.

The role emphasizes patient triage, trauma care, diagnostics, and anesthesia monitoring, offering opportunities to advance emergency skills and collaborate with doctors and staff.

Qualifications

• CVT licensure is required or eligible to obtain license within 9 months.
• At least 1 year of technician experience; ER experience is a plus but not required.
• Comfortable with restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient triage, trauma assessments, diagnostics, emergency stabilization and in-depth patient care.
• Execute tasks such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement and nursing care; perform drug calculations and monitor anesthesia.
• Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

Certified Veterinary Technician, Emergency

$25/hr and up, Dependent On Experience

Full‑time opportunity in Waukesha, WI. 1st shift, 4 nine‑hour shifts per week – includes every other weekend and some holidays. No on‑call requirement.

WVRC is a leading 24/7 emergency and specialty animal hospital in Waukesha, WI and is qualified as a VECCS Certified Level 1 Trauma Center. We are dedicated to providing patients, clients, and referring veterinarians the highest quality emergency and specialty veterinary medical care. This role is ideal for technicians who want to advance their emergency skills, work at the top of their license, and be part of a highly collaborative, well‑supported team.

In your day‑to‑day, you will:

• Support the health and wellbeing of pets by performing patient triage, trauma assessments, diagnostics, emergency patient stabilization, and in‑depth patient care.
• Utilize your technical skill sets by executing tasks such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, general nursing care, drug calculations from fluid rates to CRIs, and monitoring general anesthesia.
• Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team‑focused hospital culture.

What You Bring:

• CVT licensure is required or eligible to obtain license within 9 months.
