Job summary

Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center Racine/Kenosha is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician for the Emergency department. This 2nd shift role runs from 4pm to 1am on weekdays with rotating weekends, offering a competitive $25/hr+ with an approximate $3/hr shift differential.

You will triage, assess trauma, perform diagnostics, stabilize patients, and provide comprehensive emergency care alongside a supportive team of veterinarians and technicians.

Qualifications

  • CVT credentials highly preferred.
  • Emergency or specialty experience preferred.
  • 3–5 years in a veterinary hospital setting required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community.

  • Perform triage, trauma assessments, diagnostics, stabilization, and patient care.
  • Execute tasks such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, nursing care, and drug calculations.

Compensation:$25/hr+ Dependent on Experience |Applicable Shift Differentials ~ $3/hr for 2nd shift

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Support the health and wellbeing of pets by performing proficient patient triage, speedy trauma assessments, extensive diagnostics, emergency patient stabilization, and in-depth patient care
  • Utilize your technical skill sets by executing tasks such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, general nursing care, drug calculations from fluid rates to CRIs, in addition to monitoring general anesthesia and more!
  • Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians and support teams
  • Contribute to a positive, team‑focused hospital culture
What you Bring:
  • Certified Veterinary Technician credentials highly preferred for this role.
  • Emergency or Specialty experience is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5years experience working in a Veterinary Hospital setting is required.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and ability to contribute in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected.
  • Strong Technical skills including phlebotomy, medication calculations, and radiology positioning.
