Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. in Fort Wayne is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist for a full-time, day-shift role. You will assist the surgical team by preparing the sterile field, handling instruments, and supporting OR efficiency with inventory and infection prevention practices.

The position requires CST or equivalent and BLS, with 0–2 years of OR experience. Benefits include a generous sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and comprehensive coverage; no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required or
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure and physician card.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure using aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments efficiently during surgery.
• Handles instruments per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including sterilization.
• Performs counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse for safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies, cleans and returns equipment, and readies rooms for next case.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
