Job summary

Tennova Healthcare- Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will prepare sterile fields, pass instruments, and help maintain infection prevention protocols to ensure patient safety.

The role requires CST certification, BLS, and 0-2 years OR experience. You will collaborate with surgeons and nurses, manage supplies, and help maintain OR efficiency.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are set up as per procedure and physician preference card.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure using Universal Precautions and aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies.
• Handles instruments and equipment per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts to support patient safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and cleans equipment for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
