Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team in delivering high-quality patient care. You will prepare and maintain the sterile field, anticipate needs, and ensure proper handling of instruments and supplies.

You will support OR efficiency through equipment readiness, inventory management, infection control, and adherence to safety standards alongside the perioperative team.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years OR experience required.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist is required
• BLS - Basic Life Support required

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure and physician preference card.
• Maintains a sterile field using aseptic technique and Universal Precautions.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments during procedures.
• Handles instruments and equipment per policy, including inspection and sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
