Job summary

St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, CO is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the surgical team under the surgeon and RN. You will keep the OR sterile, organize instruments, pass items, and assist with patient positioning and prep.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
Current BLS from the American Heart Association.
Current registration with Colorado DORA as a surgical technologist.
Certification in Surgical Technology NBSTSA or NCCT required.

Responsibilities

Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity and opening procedures.
Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
Prepare back table and mayo stand per surgeon's preference card.
Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
Provides on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
Anticipates problems during cases and assists with emergent situations and workflow adjustments.
