Job summary

Ascension Health seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for staffing across locations in the Austin, TX metro area. The role supports sterile technique, patient positioning, and instrument handling in an active surgical schedule. Compensation is hourly with PRN and day shifts in a hospital setting.

Required: BLS within 30 days, NCCT or NBSTSA credentials with time frames, and either a high school equivalency with experience or an advanced credential. Two years scrub experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Surgical Tech credential from NCCT obtained prior to hire date or NBSTSA credential obtained within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and instruments.
• Hand required instruments to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor instrument counts throughout procedures.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.

• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.

• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.

• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following required:

• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

What additional preferences we're seeking

2 years current scrub experience required; proficiency in varied service lines preferred.
