Job summary

Ascension Kokomo, located in Kokomo, IN, invites qualified Surgical Technologists to join the Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum department. The role covers Day shifts and PRN coverage in a hospital setting, contributing to safe, efficient operative care.

The position requires BLS within 1 month of hire and Surgical Tech credentials (NCCT or NBSTSA). A high school diploma with 2 years of experience or an associate/technical degree or equivalent experience is expected.

• BLS certification within 1 month (30 days) of hire date required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted)
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NCCT or NBSTSA before hire date or transfer date

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions and appropriate instruments and supplies
• Hand required/requested instruments to surgeon during surgery
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients
• Maintain instruments and monitor counts throughout procedures

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
