Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Boardman, OH is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for Inpatient Surgery at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital. The role functions as the scrub person, maintains the sterile field, and supports the surgical team during procedures.

Requires CST certification by NBSTSA/NCCT or TS-C (TS-C not accepted for Cincinnati) and an associate degree in Surgical Technology. One year perioperative experience preferred; BLS required before independent patient care.

Qualifications

• Certification as CST/NBSTSA/TS-C or NCCT (TS-C not accepted for Cincinnati jobs).
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred at hire; required prior to independent patient care).

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person and assists during operative and invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains a sterile field, assists with drapes, and provides instruments to the team during procedures.
• Retrieves and labels specimens correctly and reports implanted devices or catheters to the circulator.
• Prepares and adapts specialty instrument needs for diverse patient populations; upholds infection control standards.
• Participates in ongoing education, competency verification, and a cost-conscious approach to care.
• On-call availability as scheduled and supports orientation of new staff and students.
