Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks an Instrument Processing Technician to support infection control, QA and departmental policies by cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing and packaging instruments, trays and reusable medical devices for inpatient nursing and medical office areas.

The role predominantly works in Sterile Processing, prepares packs and instruments for OR and other departments. Candidates must have a current CS/SPD certification with CBSPD or IAHCSMM.

Qualifications

• One year experience in instrument processing or related field.
• Must know Medical Terminology to understand instrumentation and procedures.
• Must be able to read, comprehend and follow policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follows approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies.
• Collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects and sterilizes instruments, trays and packs.
• Assembles general and specialty instruments per specifications.
• Prepares packaging materials for sterilization.
• Maintains sterilization records and QA documentation.
• Supports department orientation and training as needed.
• Performs decontamination, assembly and packaging tasks.
• Ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures.
