Job summary

Qualifications

• One year experience in instrument processing.
• Must know Medical Terminology to understand instrumentation and procedures.
• Must operate Sterile Processing departmental equipment (washers, ultrasonic, steam, gas, chemical sterilizers).
• Able to read, comprehend, and follow policies and procedures.
• Effective oral and written communication with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Infection Control - Standard Precautions: adherence to hand washing, workflow, standard precautions, sterility and monitoring.
• Quality Assurance Monitoring: maintains event-related protocols and load records.
• Documentation: records QA and sterilization functions per standards.
• Policies and Procedures: adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
• Staff Development: participate in orientation, meetings, evaluations, and competency programs.
• Decontamination Skills: cleans and processes reusable instrumentation; operates cleaning equipment.
• Instrumentation Assembly: identifies, inspects, and assembles instruments per specs.
• Preparation and Packaging: prepares packaging materials for sterilization.
• Principles of Sterilization: selects methods and verifies parameters; loads/unloads carts.
• Equipment and Supply Management: inventories and rotates stock; reports malfunctions.
• Workplace Safety: follows safety policies and attends training.
• Professionalism: demonstrates communication, teamwork, and reliability.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: this job has no supervisory responsibilities.
