Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Sterile Processing & Distribution (SPD) Certified Technician to decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and medical supplies in compliance with standards from AORN, JCAHO, OSHA and AAMI.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited CS/SPD Technician course, and national CSPD or CRCST certification. A minimum of 3 years in central sterile is preferred, with strong computer and instruction-comprehension skills.

Qualifications

• Basic working knowledge of computers and ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
• 3 years of experience in a central sterile department or surgical instrument room preferred.
• National certification as CSPD Technician from CBSPD or CRCST from IAHCSMM is required.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate instrumentation per manufacturers’ recommendations and AAMI standards.
• Assemble, wrap and test instrumentation; ensure correct peel packing.
• Coordinate with Operating Room to communicate needs and ensure available instruments.
• Sterilize instruments per IFU and AAMI standards; maintain documentation and records.
• Assist in assembling case carts and maintaining supplies for OR and sterile processing.
