Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for night shift PRN coverage. You will assess, develop, and implement respiratory care plans for adults, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and ventilator support, and monitor patient status in collaboration with the care team.

You'll perform advanced respiratory procedures, communicate changes, and educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and equipment.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of hire date or transfer date required.
• NBRC or Tennessee Board credential within 6 months of hire date.
• High school diploma equivalency with 2 years experience or associate/technical degree or 4 years relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, develop, and implement individualized respiratory care plans for adults, including oxygen, aerosols, and ventilator support.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and response while collaborating with the healthcare team.
• Perform advanced respiratory procedures including mechanical ventilation management and arterial blood gas analysis.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, equipment use, and community resources; participate in emergency resuscitation teams.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Assess, develop, and implement individualized respiratory care plans for adult patients with acute and chronic respiratory insufficiencies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and ventilator support.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient respiratory status, response to therapy, and changes in condition while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Perform advanced respiratory care procedures including mechanical ventilation management, arterial blood gas analysis, airway management, and emergency respiratory interventions.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, treatment plans, equipment use, and available community resources while responding as an active member of emergency resuscitation/code teams.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
