Job summary

Prime Healthcare Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician for full-time roles with 4:30am-1:00pm shifts and rotating weekends. You will perform venipuncture and skin puncture on patients of all ages, collect specimens, and ensure accurate labeling and data entry in the clinical laboratory.

Ideal candidates hold a phlebotomy certification, a high school diploma, and a current BLS credential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or equivalent on-the-job training with documented competency required.
• Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician required.
• BLS certification within forty-five days of hire and maintained current, according to hospital requirement.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages for blood specimen collection.
• Do clerical duties including data entry, filing, and telephone communication.
• Demonstrate proper phlebotomy technique and collect specimens accurately.
• Process specimens for various laboratory sections and load specimens on instrumentation as directed.
• May assist with sample pickup, inventory, and cross-department tasks.
