Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in our hospital pharmacy. The role involves compounding, labeling, sterile preparations, and operating automated dispensing systems in a patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities include drug distribution, inventory control, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork across BH Pharmacy Services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• PT certifications listed as preferred/required.
• Pharmacy technician credentials as specified by Baystate Health.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of duties and performs functions in the drug distribution system in compliance with standards.
• Accurately compounds, pre-packages, and re-packages medications with proper labeling.
• Performs aseptic compounding of parenteral admixtures and sterile dosage forms; performs dosage calculations.
• Maintains knowledge of drug properties; uses MSDS/references for stability.
• Operates Pyxis, compounders, and other automation per policy.
• Handles drug purchasing and inventory control tasks as needed.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and staff training.
• Prioritizes orders, triages, and notifies pharmacists as appropriate.
• Adheres to attendance policy and collaborates with the health care team.
