Baystate Health's Pharmacy Technician role supports the pharmacist in preparing patient-specific orders, inventory control, and facilitating prescription processing. You will operate dispensing machines and Baystate systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Under supervision, you may engage in non-sterile compounding, medication histories, or adherence technician duties, with opportunities for training and policy-aligned professional growth.
Certified Pharmacy technicians, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in various activities of the pharmacy department, including the preparation, distribution, and storage of pharmaceuticals for the patients of Baystate Medical Center and Baystate Health System. The pharmacy technician is responsible for the essential functions and responsibilities outlined in this document, noting every employee is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Leadership has the right to change or add to the job responsibilities based on changes in workflows or processes as necessary. Employee is expected to: Obtain and maintain appropriate knowledge and understanding of Baystate Medical Center/Baystate Health (BH)Retail and Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. This knowledge includes the values, policies, and procedures of BMC/BH and BH Retail and Ambulatory Pharmacy Services. Understand major job responsibilities and performance factors that help meet the responsibilities, which include accepting and following directions from the pharmacist, preparing patient-specific orders for review by a licensed pharmacist, and assisting in the maintenance of drug inventory (including CIII-CV controlled substances). In addition, Certified Pharmacy Tech III will be trained, competent, and actively engaged in at least one of the following advanced skills - Non-Sterile Compounding, Medication Histories for Baystate Medical Center/Baystate Health patients, or working as a Medication Adherence Technician. Customer Service & Teamwork; Attendance. Operates and troubleshoots equipment and pharmacy systems. Receives and refers incoming calls for the department and handles pharmacy POS/pick-up transactions. Serves as pharmacy representative inside and outside of the pharmacy department. Demonstrate commitment and dedication to patient-centered delivery of care.
