Job summary

The role requires NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant training and ASCP certification or exam readiness before start date; prior grossing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or exam-ready prior to start date.
• Completion of NAACLS Accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Program.
• Prior grossing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accuracy of patient identification on specimens prepared for microscopic examination.
• Performs surgical dissection and provides quality material for histology studies; collaborates with pathologists.
• Performs frozen sections and maintains cryostats as required.
• Dictates complete and accurate gross descriptions and communicates results professionally.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of gross cutting areas and morgue; disposes of tissues per SOPs.
• Performs validated tests and reports results per standard operating procedures.
• Interprets clinical presentations and tests to aid timely diagnostic results.
