Qualifications

• Completion of NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant Program.
• ASCP certification or exam-ready with certification prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accuracy of patient identification on all specimens processed for microscopic examination.
• Perform surgical specimen dissection on simple to complex cases and provide quality material for routine histology studies; obtain pathologist input for gross specimen analysis when appropriate.
• Conduct frozen sections and maintain cryostats; dictate complete and accurate gross descriptions.
• Communicate findings and results in a timely, professional manner with pathologists and providers.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, supplies, and the cleanliness of the gross cutting area and morgue; dispose of tissues and reagents per procedures.
• Perform quality control and routine preventive maintenance; keep gross bench procedures manual current with CAP compliance review.

Requirements

• Ability to perform duties under supervision of a pathologist and in an on-site hospital pathology setting
• Eligibility to work in the stated location and to participate in a travel assignment
