Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Certified Pathologist Assistant to perform gross dissection, tissue sampling, histologic support, and photomicrography within a diagnostic pathology lab focused on anatomic pathology and oncology.

Responsibilities include specimen dissection, preparing tissue samples, and contributing to QA and discrepancy resolution efforts, in a high-volume breast and GI pathology setting.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's in biology or chemical sciences; Master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of CLIA compliance and LIS.
• Experience with GI pathology is advantageous.

• Perform gross dissection, tissue sampling, macroscopic description, photomicrography, and training grossing technicians.
• Support high-volume anatomic pathology workflows and ensure regulatory compliance.

Role

Certified Pathologist Assistant responsible for grossing, histologic sampling, and microscopy support within a diagnostic pathology laboratory focused on anatomic pathology and oncology.

Objectives include assisting in specimen dissection, preparing tissue samples, and supporting quality assurance and discrepancy resolution efforts.

Responsibilities

• performing gross dissection, tissue sampling, macroscopic description, photomicrography, and training grossing technicians; managing workflow and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• ASCP or American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants certification, minimum one-year relevant experience, Bachelor's in biology or chemical sciences (Master's preferred).
• Knowledge of pathology procedures, CLIA compliance, and laboratory information systems required.
• Technical skills include tissue grossing of complex specimens (e.g., mastectomy, colon resection), histology, and image processing; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in GI pathology and high-complexity testing standards is advantageous.

Environment

• Environment involves handling biohazards, live human tissues, and chemicals, with physical requirements including lifting, prolonged sitting/standing, and manual dexterity.
• The role supports high-volume, fast-paced anatomic pathology workflows focusing on oncology, including breast and GI specimens, with potential exposure to extreme conditions and biohazards.
