Job summary

Alameda Center is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to implement therapy programs and provide treatments to residents under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

The role supports independence and functioning with a focus on high-quality care. Competitive hourly rate and flexible schedule include full-time, part-time, and per diem options, plus benefits and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the AOTA.
• Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required by the state.

Responsibilities

• Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist.
• Provides OT treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises.
• Performs ADL evaluations under the OT direction.
• Organizes and facilitates treatment groups with the OT.
• Instructs residents, families and caregivers in OT skills under the OT supervision.
• Works with rehab team to develop programs for each resident.
• Maintains documentation for all residents treated.
• Attends care and staff meetings as an OT representative.
• Cleans, maintains, and reports equipment needs.
• Ensures residents receive high-quality service in a caring atmosphere.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements occupational therapy programs and provides occupational therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) RESPONSIBLITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• 1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Occupational Therapist;
• 2 Provides individualized occupational therapy treatments including activities of daily living and range of motion exercises;
• 3 Performs activities of daily living evaluations under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
• 4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the Occupational Therapist;
• 5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the occupational therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist;
• 6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
• 7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
• 8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of occupational therapy, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist;
• 9 Cleans, maintains, identifies and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
• 10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• 1 Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Occupational Therapy Association. He/she must be certified and/or eligible for certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
• 2 Licensed and/or eligible for licensure, as required by the state.
