Hill Valley Healthcare in Staunton, VA invites a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our family of skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation centers dedicated to resident-centered, quality care.

In this role you will assist therapists, deliver treatment plans to help residents regain independence, document progress, and collaborate with residents, families, and care teams to uphold HIPAA and Residents' Rights.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited OTA program.
  • Current COTA certification and state licensure.
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the OT in delivering treatment plans to help residents regain independence.
  • Carry out therapeutic activities to improve residents' strength, mobility, cognition and ADLs.
  • Monitor and document resident progress with timely notes and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and care team members.
  • Support training on techniques and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Follow established treatment protocols under OT supervision.
  • Participate in care team meetings to ensure resident-centered care.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance and Residents' Rights.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the OT or Director of Rehabilitation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering treatment plans to help residents regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Carry out therapeutic activities to improve residents' strength, coordination, mobility, cognition, and self-care abilities
  • Monitor and document resident progress through accurate and timely notes and reports
  • Communicate effective with residents, families, and care team members
  • Support in training residents and families on techniques and use of adaptive equipment
  • Follow established treatment protocols and safety guidelines under the direction of the Occupational Therapist
  • Participate in care team meetings and collaborate to ensure a holistic, resident-centered care approach
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and Residents' Rights
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Occupational Therapist or Director of Rehabilitation
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current COTA certification and state license in good standing
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus, but not required
