Job summary

Staunton Post Acute & Rehabilitation is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team and deliver resident-centered care in a skilled nursing setting.

The role requires a valid COTA certification and state license, with a background in geriatrics being a plus. You will assist in ADLs, document progress, and help families understand adaptive equipment and techniques.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current COTA certification and state license in good standing.
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering treatment plans to help residents regain independence in ADLs.
  • Carry out therapeutic activities to improve residents’ strength, coordination, mobility, cognition, and self-care abilities.
  • Monitor and document resident progress through accurate and timely notes and reports.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and care team members.
  • Support in training residents and families on techniques and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Follow established treatment protocols and safety guidelines under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Participate in care team meetings and collaborate to ensure a holistic, resident-centered care approach.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and Residents’ Rights.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Occupational Therapist or Director of Rehabilitation.
