Job summary

Accela Rehab and Care Center at Manalapan in Manalapan, NJ seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support an OT in delivering ADL-focused therapy to residents in long-term care.

You will carry out therapeutic activities to improve strength, mobility, cognition and self-care; monitor progress and document notes; communicate with residents, families and the care team; and support training on adaptive equipment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• COTA certification and state license in good standing.
• Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus.
• Excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, reliable and committed to teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering treatment plans to help residents regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Carry out therapeutic activities to improve residents’ strength, coordination, mobility, cognition, and self-care abilities.
• Monitor and document resident progress through accurate and timely notes and reports.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and care team members.
• Support in training residents and families on techniques and use of adaptive equipment.
• Follow established treatment protocols and safety guidelines under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
• Participate in care team meetings and collaborate to ensure a holistic, resident-centered care approach.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and Residents' Rights.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Occupational Therapist or Director of Rehabilitation.
