Job summary

South Hadley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dedicated team. Our focus is on resident-centered, quality care in a positive and supportive environment, with activities for employee engagement and excellent onboarding.

As a COTA, you will assist in delivering treatment plans under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist and help residents regain independence in daily activities.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current COTA certification and state license in good standing required.
• Compassionate, reliable, and committed to quality care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering treatment plans.
• Carry out therapeutic activities to improve residents’ abilities.
• Monitor and document resident progress accurately.
• Communicate effectively with residents and families.
• Support in training residents and families on adaptive techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in delivering treatment plans to help residents regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs)

• Carry out therapeutic activities to improve residents’ strength, coordination, mobility, cognition, and self-care abilities

• Monitor and document resident progress through accurate and timely notes and reports

• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and care team members

• Support in training residents and families on techniques and use of adaptive equipment

• Follow established treatment protocols and safety guidelines under the direction of the Occupational Therapist

• Participate in care team meetings and collaborate to ensure a holistic, resident-centered care approach

• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA and Residents' Rights

• Perform other duties as directed by the Occupational Therapist or Director of Rehabilitation
  

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

• Current COTA certification and state license in good standing

• Experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus, but not required

• Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
