Job summary

AVIR at Lomaland in El Paso, TX is seeking a compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house rehabilitation team on a Per Diem basis. You will collaborate with OTs, PTs, SLPs, nursing staff, and residents to support independence and quality of life.

Eligible candidates hold a valid Texas COTA license, are graduates of an accredited OTA program, and bring strong clinical, communication, and documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas COTA license in good standing.
  • Graduate of an accredited OTA program.
  • Experience in skilled nursing or subacute rehabilitation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed OT.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the OT.
  • Assist residents with activities to improve strength, balance, mobility, ADLs, and independence.
  • Educate residents, families and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and safety.
  • Collaborate with OTs, PTs, SLPs, nurses and the rehab team.
  • Complete treatment documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Follow established treatment plans and regulatory standards.

AVIR at Lomaland is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our in-house rehabilitation team on a Per Diem basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a COTA who enjoys working with older adults and collaborating with residents, families, nursing staff, Occupational Therapists, and other rehabilitation professionals to help residents improve their functional abilities, achieve greater independence, and enhance their quality of life.

Position Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.

  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.

  • Assist residents with therapeutic activities designed to improve strength, coordination, balance, mobility, activities of daily living (ADLs), and functional independence.

  • Provide training and education to residents, families, and caregivers regarding therapeutic techniques, safety, adaptive strategies, and home exercise programs.

  • Assist residents in developing and maintaining skills necessary for participation in meaningful daily activities.

  • Monitor residents' responses to treatment and communicate progress, concerns, and changes in functional status to the supervising Occupational Therapist.

  • Recommend and utilize appropriate adaptive equipment and compensatory techniques as directed by the Occupational Therapist.

  • Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, SLPs, nursing staff, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

  • Complete treatment documentation and other required records accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Follow established treatment plans and carry out interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.

  • Maintain compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations and professional standards.

  • Promote a compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered approach to care.

Qualifications
  • Current Texas Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license/certification in good standing.

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

  • Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

  • Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting is preferred.

  • Compassionate and resident-focused approach to care.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
