Job Description

The Certified Nurse Assistant functions as a clinical support partner to assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional.

This position requires a current Colorado CNA license.

The internal float pool at St. Mary's covers short-term and long-term needs within our organization, developing versatile staff capable of filling in on numerous units. This department offers scheduling flexibility and opportunities in various nursing areas.

Scope
  • Responds to patient care needs, assists with hygiene, vital signs, and communicates effectively with the care team.
  • Performs 12-lead EKG duties as trained and competent.
  • Applies, checks, and documents restraints as directed.
  • Performs wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
  • Manages equipment and tube care (e.g., JPs, hemovacs, nasogastric tubes, Foley removal).
  • Assists with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges following safe patient handling principles.
  • Maintains office and patient care supplies.
  • Performs unit secretary duties, maintains charts, responds to calls, and provides patient information to the team.
  • Assists physicians and RNs as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS-HCP certification or obtained within 60 days of hire with approval.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of healthcare experience.

Must perform essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations for disabilities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work nights/weekends are required.

Physical Requirements
  • Visual and manual dexterity, ability to lift and move patients, and navigate busy environments.

Location: St. Marys Regional Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 (hourly rate depends on experience)
