Summary of Job Duties:

Schedule: PRN, As Needed Basis. Shifts vary, typically 2-12 hours or 3-8 hours, with potential for change based on unit needs. This posting fills multiple positions.

The Registered Nurse will coordinate patient care, triage, and collaborate with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Responsibilities include working with referral sources, facilitating appointments, coordinating care transitions, and providing patient education on complex conditions. The RN I will develop and implement individual health plans within ICU, Medical/Surgical, and Oncology units.

PRN staff are ineligible for benefits but may contribute to pre-tax retirement plans.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (Associate, Diploma, Bachelors, or Master's)
  • Valid RN License
  • Nursing Experience
  • At least 1 year of patient care experience related to the position
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong work ethics and accountability
  • Specialty areas (e.g., ICU, Surgical Trauma) require passing pre-screening with a minimum score of 80%
  • Chemotherapy certification may be required for Oncology units
  • Work one major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, or New Year) and one additional holiday, plus two weekend shifts
  • PRN staff limited to 1000 hours in a 12-month rolling period

Preferred:

  • Two or more years of RN experience

Transfer Requirements: Follow transfer procedures before last working day as posted on Http://nurses.uams.edu/.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care in ICU, Medical/Surgical, and Oncology units
  • Perform triage, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and patient education
  • Deliver care according to standards set by UAMS, ANA, AR State Board of Nursing, and specialty organizations
  • Develop and evaluate patient care plans
  • Administer medications following standards and laws
  • Coordinate care and follow-up
  • Manage prescription refills and patient education in collaboration with physicians
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Employees must be fitted for PPE, including N95 masks and PAPR/CAPR.

Physical activity levels include constant, frequent, and occasional activities, with specific weight lifting and environmental considerations detailed.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
