Job Description:
Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talented individuals to fill the position of Registered Nurse – Float Pool in our MedSurg Department. This is a permanent, PRN position.

Core Competencies:
- Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
- Establishes a care plan appropriate to identified problems, involving the patient according to their capabilities and desires.
- Executes care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
- Documents patient care accurately.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates across disciplines for coordinated patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support.
- Evaluates learning needs of patients and families; provides education tailored to age, culture, and condition.
- Assesses the effectiveness of care and addresses issues affecting patient outcomes.
- Performs assigned duties such as entering orders, managing admissions/discharges, and coordinating transfers.
- Responds to patient care complaints through established channels.
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
- Associate’s degree in Nursing — Preferred or Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing — Preferred or Required
Required Licenses:
- RN license in Tennessee or a compact state
Required Skills and Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) — Required at hire
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) — Within 6 months of hire or transfer (Emergency Services and ICU)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — Within 6 months of hire or transfer (Emergency Services only)
