Job summary

Maine Medical Center Portland's Emergency Department is seeking an Emergency Department Technician II to join the nursing/clinical support team. This part-time evening-shift role involves 2, 12-hour shifts from 11:30 AM to 12:00 AM with weekend rotation.

Under supervision of physicians and APPs, you will assist with vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG, patient tracking, stocking, and education of new staff. CNA certification and completion of nursing coursework are required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of a Certified Nursing course required.
  • License/Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant license required.
  • Experience: Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of an Emergency Department Technician I role.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG and phlebotomy under supervision.
  • Stocking, results retrieval and patient tracking in the ED.
  • Orient new team members and students; provide educational offerings in unit.

About: Maine Medical Center Portland's Emergency Department

The Maine Medical Center (MMC) emergency department (ED) is Maine's only American College of Surgeons Level One verified trauma center. Located in Portland, the MMC ED is also home to Maine's onlypediatric emergency department. Our state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the needs of a high-volume patient population from Maine and New Hampshire, as well as visitors from all over the world. Patients seen in the ED may be experiencing chest pain, falls greater than 10 feet resulting in injury, heart attack, seizures, suicidal thoughts or actions, mental health crisis, Physical attack and Poisoning among other conditions.

Summary

The Emergency Department Technician II – MMCP role assists the healthcare team in organizing and implementing basic department activities such as stocking, results retrieval and patient tracking. Under the guidance of the physician/advanced practice practitioner, this role will perform patient care such as vital signs, pulse oximetry, EKG, phlebotomy and other simple procedures. Orients new team members and students and provides educational offerings in unit.

The pay range for this position is $20.68to $25.10 per hour.
